The 'Grauzone' (engl. Grayzone) is a meeting point of many different characters in times of the dark Middle Age. However, real power can only be obtained within the community of the clans of the Grauzone, whose members rigidly adhere to each other. The way up is onerous and signed by many fights, that are part of countless adventures in a mysterious and dangerous environment. To succeed in the Grauzone, you have to persuade (in any way you can possibly imagine) other players to surrender parts of their equipment to you (Yeah, it's a PK-Mud). And maybe, after a long and troublesome way, you'll be one of the most powerfull in the Grauzone.

The feared catastrophe of Y2K came and went without major incident. Even the threat of 2038's 32 bit disaster failed to live up to its prophetic destruction. But, one unforeseen event changed the world forever. The cataclysmic tectonic shifts caused the continents to partially rejoin. After the confusion and disputes over new borders, the nations of the world agreed to rename this new continental configuration; 'Pangaea Nea.' Now the world rebuilds, not the old hypocritical systems but a new society based upon exploration of ideas and concepts. But this world is not a paradise, far from it. Pangaea rises from the ashes of destruction. The tectonic shifts consumed entire land masses, created mountains out of plains, made volcanoes where once were cities, and setoff nuclear explosions of world arsenals. Some cultures from Earth's past did not survive. But, the cultures that have survived; find themselves part of a new system. Distinct cultures at different junctures along civilization's technological path, living side by side. It is not rare to see a modern multi-story building next to a village of huts.
Not everyone desired to rejoin this society. Many people have went off to the unsettled lands to live out their lives as hermits, vagabonds, or bandits.
The MOO is NOT intended to be a role-play MOO, though that aspect is allowed. The MOO is designed to be a theoretical MOO, exploring the social, political, and philosophical ramifications of a new world. Concepts on sciences, philosophy, religion, and language are encouraged. But, approach these subjects as one would if all pre-conceptions were swept aside. Only your lack of imagination can limit you!

The PK-Mud offers the possibility to play a character in unusual, facet-rich detail variety. You may choose between different, characteristic races with various skills and a lot of attributes. You can play your character quite as desired, with priority for creating friendships, hack and slay, or for solving adventures and the exploration of whole regions. You can join the guilds of the adventurers, paladins, elementalists, gardeners, conjurer, thiefs or chaotic jokers. If you have created and built up your character far enough, even the possibility of forming a clan with other players is open to you. Clans have the right to build an residence of their own, which can be designed completely free, for example with guards, traps, doors and chests. Beware, within the PK-Mud you always have to pay a measurable amount of caution, since contrary to other Muds, it is not strictly forbidden to solve a conflict with other players by the force of weaponry. Newbies do not need to fear anything, as there are several rules that regulate playerkilling. The Wunderland is a german MUD, which is based on a series of Alex Wolkow, whose first book is like "The Wizard of OZ". You follow the paths of little Elli through this phantastic land of magic and wonder, where you could even find elements of "Alice in Wonderland" (Lewis Carrol) and other famous fantasy stories.
Behind great mountains and a deep desert begins the Outer World (Außenwelt). There are lurking more horrors and dangers which you have to manage to get into the circle of the seers.
The Mud "Wunderland" opened some time ago, but is never quite full. Instead there's a friendly sound atmosphere and even familary feelings between the players, seers und wizards. :-)

We allow player killing, but require roleplay. Fandra offers you a unique religions system. Some classes, like cleric and priestknight, fully depend on chosen god. Following a God gives you additional skills, but makes you depend on your faithfulness, and on status of your Temple. Temples can be raided by followers of enemy god, and you might loose recall and most of your prayers won't work until you re-raid.
We have unique area set and solid world concept with creation story, map and such. (No Midgaard.) You can choose a town to live in.
We have quests, both automated and provided by immortals. ANSI Colors are configurable. You can assign a color to each channel, to many skills, etc. Mobs and even some items act wise, and there are many quests within our areas. You won't get bored. Combinations of Race/ Hometown/Class/Sex/God provide enough different roles for you to play.

If you are tired of each 'new' MUD being just the same as all the others, if you are looking for a truly unique roleplaying experience, than Geas is the game for you. Geas is not a standard mudlib, like Diku or Merc. There are no stock areas, no levels, no classes. There are no 'global shouts.' Instead, all communications are achieved through means which fit to the world.
Geas features a completely original world with a rich and detailed background. Different races are truly different, not only in their physical powers and appearances, but also in their history, traditions, and the reactions of other people in the world. Realistic considerations like temperature have an effect on gameplay. Geas also boasts a fully formed pantheon of gods, each with their own aspects, powers, and relations to other gods. Within this intricate tapestry, players are encouraged to choose their own path with the type of character they wish to roleplay.
In many MUDs, advancement is limited solely to how many monsters a player kills. Not so on Geas, which features a realistic learning-by-doing skill advancement system. Players improve those stats and skills they use - no more fighting trolls to improve wisdom or intelligence. A player can become powerful in their chosen area, be it the fighting skills of a warrior, the sneakiness of a thief, or the craftsmanship of a master smith. Skills are also not restricted to a specific guild, meaning that players are free to choose to join a guild of like-minded individuals, create guilds on their own, or go it alone as they please. Four kinds of guilds are available: professional, layman, race, and crafts, and a player may join one guild of each type.
For those who do enjoy fighting, Geas offers a fun and realistic combat system, which involves much more than just sitting back and watching hits and misses scroll by on the screen. Geas' combat system encourages players to take an active part through a wide variety of active specials. Armours are also specially crafted to protect specific body parts, while weapons have different offensive and defensive capabilities, and their criticals and their effects against enemies depend on weapon and armour type. Oftentimes in combat, choosing the correct strategy is the difference between life and death.
The world of Geas has been more than four years in the making before being offered to the general public, and it is anything but static. It is growing and changing through a staff of active and knowledgable wizards, with help and ideas gladly accepted from players as well. To learn more, come in and try it out for yourself. Once upon a time there was a luxuriant place with many cities and the people were happy. The cities were growing and trade was becoming more and more important. This kingdom was ruled by a generous king who was kind towards all of his people. But amidst the dark corridors of the king's castle evil was lurking. The king's magician, a dark and evil character, had vicious plans to take over this kingdom and rule it with darkness as his friend. He used old books of black magic to open a dark portal to the underworld. An army of dark minions swirled out of the portal. But the dark forces were treacherous and not only did they tear the castle apart, but they threw the king's magician into the portal through which he summoned them, cursing him with painful death and everlasting damnation.
The dark forces swiftly overthrew this world and many people were killed and tortured. People fled and sought shelter were it was to be found. They gathered in small tribes and soon found that the only place where they could be safe from these evil forces was down below. They started building underground complexes and to make sure these cities would not be found the wizards chanted poweful spells to hide the exits and cities from evil's eyes.
Evil ruled the surface for many, many years. Man lost count of how long they had been underground and the surface was soon but a legend of old times. But as time went by and evil ravaged the surface, the climate started to change. The surface started to become a cold and desolate place, haunted by cold winds and treacherous weather. Evil started to retreat slowly and soon light started to come back to the kingdom. But the climate were there to stay and the kingdom was never going to be the same again.
At this time the humans of M'loria started to open their well-covered hatches from below and take a glimpse of the outside world. Seeing no danger, young and brave adventurers soon started to carefully explore the surroundings - however, some of them were never to return...
You are now one of those adventurers and it is your task to give the bards something to sing jolly songs about around the campfire once again.
But beware, evil is still out there.....

Nightfall, online since 1990, is a LPmud with a classical fantasy theme. Besides the large material world with about 70 quests there is the world of daydreams, where the Impossible can happen. There are four magical and four non-magical guilds and as speciality a vampires guild. Raising and caring for pandas is one of the many other reasons to visit Nightfall.

Xyllomer (the former PaderMUD) is set into a typical fantasy and medieval environment. Players are allowed to take their part in decisions regarding the MUD. As 'established' MUD it is quite large and complex with over 50 Skills, 12 guilds and more than 100 quests. This guarantees a lot of fun over a long time. Xyllomer is now running on a new computer that runs without 'lag' and can take more that fifty players at once, which is the peak time amount.
